About
Welcome! I’m Thomas Kappler, sometimes known as thomas11 on the web, and this is my programming blog. You can contact me at tkappler@gmail.com, or via this blog.
Lots of things interest me, but here I’ll focus on computers and the magic that makes them work. I studied Computer Science in Karlsruhe, Germany, which has led me to IIT Delhi and to the Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics in Geneva, Switzerland. As of November 2009, I’m still there, developing tools for biologists, from web apps to storage backends to RDF to Perl hacks.
Secretly, I’m into programming languages and Emacs. Occasionally I get around to sharing some code or writing something academic.
Prof. Ralf Reussner, Prof. Pankaj Jalote, and Heiko Koziolek have made possible a fantastic experience writing my thesis at IIT Delhi, India. Dr. Rene Witte initiated me to the strange world of academic research and writing and let me do some cool stuff and write about it. Thanks!
I have another, more personal blog that’s half-dead now, where I also published some techie stuff.
You can find more business-y info on LinkedIn.
